Ông Nguyễn Trúc Sơn – Bí thư Huyện uỷ huyện Thạnh Phú Tỉnh Bến Tre cho biết: “Huyện Thạnh Phú có 26 km đường giáp biển. Biến đổi khí hậu đang là cản trở lớn cho việc phát triển kinh tế của huyện, vốn chủ yếu là làm nông nghiệp. Một năm 12 tháng thì khoảng 3 – 6 tháng huyện bị tác động của tình trạng xâm ngập mặn. Cả huyện chỉ có một nhà máy nước, đáp ứng được 1/3 nhu cầu của 150.000 người dân. Về giáo dục toàn huyện chỉ có 3 trường có bể chứa nước và máy lọc để sử dụng, tạm đáp ứng nhu cầu của học sinh và giáo viên, 52 trường được đề xuất trong chương trình có điều kiện còn khó khăn, chưa có nguồn nước đảm bảo vệ sinh. Do vậy, chúng tôi rất vui mừng khi đoàn công tác của Hội, Tập đoàn Novaland và đơn vị kỹ thuật đã đến khảo sát, nghiên cứu và tài trợ cho huyện Thạnh Phú để triển khai chương trình “Nước sạch học đường” năm nay.” bình lọc nước uống swacf
Trong vòng 3 tháng sau ngày ký kết thực hiện, khoảng 516 máy lọc nước sẽ được lắp đặt hoàn thành tại 52 trường học của huyện Thạnh Phú, tỉnh Bến Tre, cung cấp nước sạch uống trực tiếp cho gần 20.000 học sinh và giáo viên. Theo báo cáo của UNICEF, tại Việt Nam hiện nay có khoảng 17 triệu trẻ em chưa được sử dụng nước sạch, cục Y Tế Dự Phòng cũng công bố hiện còn 30% số trường vẫn chưa có đủ nước uống và nguồn nước sinh hoạt sạch phục vụ học sinh và giáo viên. Đặc biệt, nhiều báo cáo cho thấy khu vực ĐBSCL đang chịu ảnh hưởng nhiều nhất từ hiện tượng biến đổi khí hậu và thiếu nguồn nước sạch nghiêm trọng tại Việt Nam. Tình trạng xâm ngập mặn cùng với việc khai thác và sử dụng nguồn nước bất hợp lý đã dẫn đến tình trạng suy giảm chất lượng và khan hiếm nguồn nước sạch trầm trọng tại nhiều địa phương ở Tây Nam Bộ.
